Production on the movie Thirteen Minutes started this week in Oklahoma City, El Reno, and Minco. The movie is from IP Thirteen Minutes, in association with the Oklahoma Film + Music Office, and was written, directed, and produced by Lindsay Gossling. The filmm features Golden Globe-nominated Thora Birch, Peter Facinelli, Tony Award-nominated and Emmy award winner Anne Heche, Trace Adkins, Amy Smart, Will Peltz, Sofia Vassilieva, and Paz Vega.

The story follows four families in a heartland town who are tested in a single day when a tornado hits, which forces their paths to cross and redefines the meaning of survival. The studio also mentioned that 75% of the crew, and approximately 50% of the cast, are local Oklahoma hires.

“Oklahoma provides an unrivalled backdrop for ‘Thirteen Minutes’, a grounded natural disaster film that foregrounds the emotional truth of tornados. Filming on location in the heart of Tornado Alley, working with folks who have firsthand experience with the fear, loss and profundity of weather infuses ‘Thirteen Minutes’ with an unprecedented realism uncharacteristic of other films within its genre,” said Harnisch. “We’re honored to be able to work with Oklahoma’s incredibly talented cast, crew and our friends at the Oklahoma Film & Music Office.”

“When we connected with Lindsay Gossling and Karen Harnisch at Sundance, we were able to form relationships and introduce them to the opportunities Oklahoma has to offer,” said OF+MO Director Tava Maloy Sofsky. “This film is a testament to what can happen when our office travels out of state to spread the word about the incredible talent and locations that we have here. It is only fitting that so many local cast and crew have been involved in the telling of a story close to the hearts of many Oklahomans.”

Cassian Elwes and Travis Farncombe serve as executive producers on the project, with Karen Harnisch serving as producer.
