Focus Features’ “Emma” adaptation released a first look trailer on Thursday morning. The movie is an adaptation of the Jane Austen novel, and it features an all-star cast. Autumn de Wilde directed “Emma” for the studio, working off a screenplay by Eleanor Catton, and the movie stars Anya Taylor-Joy, Johnny Flynn, Bill Nighy, Mia Goth, Miranda Hart, Josh O’Connor, Callum Turner, Rupert Graves, Gemma Whelan, Amber Anderson, Tanya Reynolds, and Connor Swindells.

The studio’s description reads, “Handsome, clever, and rich, Emma Woodhouse is a restless queen bee without rivals in her sleepy little town. In this glittering satire of social class and the pain of growing up, Emma must adventure through misguided matches and romantic missteps to find the love that has been there all along.”

“Emma” is expected to open in select theaters on February 21st, and the movie will battle “My Boyfriend’s Meds” with Brooke Shields, and “Greed” with Asa Butterfield and Isla Fisher at the specialty box office. The wide releases scheduled to debut that weekend are “The Call of the Wild,” Vin Diesel’s “Bloodshot,” and the horror-thriller “Brahms: The Boy II.”

If you enjoy “Emma,” you might want to check out “Dickinson” on AppleTV. Alena Smith created the series for Apple, and the company’s official description reads, “Dickinson audaciously explores the constraints of society, gender, and family from the perspective of rebellious young poet Emily Dickinson.” The show stars Hailee Steinfeld as a young Emily Dickinson, and the show also features Toby Huss, Anna Baryshnikov, Ella Hunt, and Adrian Blake Enscoe.

Anya Taylor-Joy also starred in FOX’s “The New Mutants,” an X-Men spinoff that was created just before Disney bought the studio. After the studio was acquired by Disney, the finished movie was shelved, since it didn’t connect to Disney’s Marvel Cinematic Universe. There have been reports that the movie will be released at some point, on some platform, and others believe that Disney will chalk it up as a loss. Time will tell. The movie also features Antonio Banderas, Maisie Williams, Alice Braga, and Blu Hunt.
