Disney dropped an official trailer for FOX’s “The Call of the Wild” adaptation, which is based on the novel by Jack London. Harrison Ford, Dan Stevens, Omar Sy, Karen Gillan, Bradley Whitford, and Colin Woodell are featured in the movie, which uses CG to bring the story to life alongside live-action actors. “The Call of the Wild” is scheduled to hit theaters on February 21st.

Chris Sanders directed the movie for the studio, working off a screenplay by Michael Green. The movie tells the story of Buck, a big-hearted dog whose blissful domestic life is turned upside down when he is suddenly uprooted from his California home and transplanted to the exotic wilds of the Alaskan Yukon during the Gold Rush of the 1890s. The studio described the film adding, “As the newest rookie on a mail delivery dog sled team–and later its leader–Buck experiences the adventure of a lifetime, ultimately finding his true place in the world and becoming his own master.”

Erwin Stoff produced the movie, with Diana Pokorny serving as executive producer. Ryan Stafford served as co-producer and visual effects producer on the project.

“The Call of the Wild” is opening against Vin Diesel’s “Bloodshot” sci-fi action movie, and the horror-thriller “Brahms: The Boy” with Katie Holmes. The movie will offer smaller moviegoers something to see that weekend and opens one week after the new “Sonic the Hedgehog” races into theaters nationwide. After that, Disney’s own “Onward” with Chris Pratt, Tom Holland, John Ratzenberger, and Julia Louis-Dreyfus hits theaters on March 6th. The next big Disney movie to hit theaters is “Frozen 2” Kristen Bell, Idina Menzel, and Evan Rachel Wood. That movie is releasing this weekend on November 22nd, and it is expected to dominate the box office.
