The three “Charlie’s Angels” hit the red carpet in Los Angeles this week to celebrate the premiere of the new reboot, which is scheduled to hit theaters on November 15th nationwide. The three angels (Kristen Stewart, Naomi Scott, and Ella Balinska) attended the event with co-star and director Elizabeth Banks, along with fellow stars Patrick Stewart, Sam Claflin, Chris Pang and Noah Centineo.

The movie is a reboot of the film franchise, which is based on the original television series that ran from 1976 to 1981. The original trio was Kate Jackson, Farrah Fawcett, and Jaclyn Smith. This isn’t the first “Charlie’s Angels” movie. In 2000 Sony Pictures made the movie adaptation with Cameron Diaz, Drew Barrymore, and Lucy Liu as the three angel agents. The film opened at number-one at the box office with a $40M debut and went on to make over $265M for the studio. The three stars reprised their roles in 2003 for “Charlie’s Angels: Full Throttle,” which made $37M on its opening weekend before grossing over $259M worldwide.

Sony Pictures has another TV-to-film adaptation on the way, and it’s a new horror-thriller called “Fantasy Island.” Jeff Wadlow directed that movie for the studio, working off a script by Wadlow, Chris Roach, and Jillian Jacobs. The project was produced by Jason Blum and Marc Toberoff, and stars Michael Peña, Maggie Q, Lucy Hale, Austin Stowell, Portia Doubleday, Jimmy O. Yang, Ryan Hansen, and Michael Rooker. Gene Levitt created the original television series, and Jeff Wadlow, Couper Samuelson, and Jeanette Volturno served as executive producers on the movie. This adaption has a much darker tone than the original series.

The agents have other projects in the works now that “Charlie’s Angels” is ready for its premiere. Kristen Stewart is starring in the thriller “Underwater,” which is scheduled to release in January, and she is starring in “Happiest Season” with Mackenzie Davis in November 2020. Ella Balinska is starring in the thriller “Run Sweetheart Run” from director Shana Feste, but that movie doesn’t have release date set at this time.
