PC players will get to enjoy “Death Stranding” in 2020. It was announced this week that 505 Games will publish the PC version of Hideo Kojima’s latest release, and the publisher has confirmed that the game will launch simultaneously on the Epic Games Store and Steam in Summer 2020. Pre-orders for Death Stranding on PC are now available, but with the recent bugged launch of “Red Dead Redemption 2,” players might want to wait until release day to buy another PC title. It’s nice to see the game releasing on multiple platforms, and through multiple digital outlets, and we hope to see this trend continue into the new year.
Developed by Kojima Productions, “Death Stranding” stars Norman Reedus (The Walking Dead) as Sam Bridges, and the game takes place in the near future, where mysterious explosions have rocked the planet, setting off a series of supernatural events known as the Death Stranding. With spectral creatures plaguing the landscape, and the planet on the verge of a mass extinction, it’s up to Sam to journey across the ravaged wasteland to save mankind from impending annihilation.
The game also features the acting and voice talents of Mads Mikkelsen (Rogue One: A Star Wars Story) and Léa Seydoux (Spectre), with additional appearances by Academy Award winning director Guillermo del Toro (The Shape of Water), comedian and television host Conan O’Brien (TBS’ Conan) and renowned games industry personality Geoff Keighley, creator of The Game Awards.
Summer 2020 is still pretty far away at this point, but we will probably get to see more of the game’s PC optimizations in trailers over the next few months. That gives fans plenty of time to finish the recent PC releases, and to play the big holiday titles that are planned over the next 2 months. PC players are notorious for their gaming backlogs, so a Summer 2020 release date might not be that bad.
