The sci-fi epic “Ad Astra” is releasing on Digital on December 3rd, followed by the 4K UHD, Blu-ray and DVD release on December 17th. The movie stars Brad Pitt and Tommy Lee Jones and was directed by James Gray.
The studio’s official description reads, “When a mysterious life-threatening event strikes Earth, astronaut Roy McBride (Pitt) goes on a dangerous mission across an unforgiving solar system to uncover the truth about his missing father (Tommy Lee Jones) and his doomed expedition that now, 30 years later, threatens the universe.”
The movie hit theaters back in September and made $19M on its opening weekend. “Ad Astra” opened against “Downton Abbey” and “Rambo: Last Blood,” at a time when “Hustlers” and “It Chapter Two” were still doing well in theaters. The sci-fi space thriller went on to make over $126.4M for the studio.
Fans of Brad Pitt should see him reprising his role as Gerry Lane in “World War Z 2,” which is being directed by David Fincher. That movie is still in pre-production at this point, and the movie is a sequel to the 2013 movie “World War Z” with Brad Pitt, Mireille Enos, Daniella Kertesz, and James Badge Dale. The original opened with a $66.4M domestic debut and went on to make over $540M for the studio. The sequel doesn’t have a premiere date at this time, and we will have to wait until the movie starts production to learn more about the supporting cast and timeline of the film.
