ABC added Selena Gomez to the performer list for the 2019 American Music Awards. The upcoming event will be Selena’s first live TV performance in two years, and the roster is getting better by the day. An American Music Award winner, Gomez hit the stage during the American Music Awards in 2014, 2015 and 2017. This year’s big event will broadcast live from the Microsoft Theater in Los Angeles on November 24th, and you can catch it on ABC. The news comes just two days after it was confirmed that Taylor Swift will receive the 2019 ‘Artist of the Decade’ award.
As a solo artist, Gomez has accumulated over 20B streams across the digital landscape. Her new single “Lose You to Love Me” reached the top of the charts on Global Spotify and Apple Music. In 2019, Gomez was featured on “I Can’t Get Enough” with Benny Blanco, J Balvin, and Tainy. In 2018, she collaborated with DJ Snake, Ozuna, and Cardi B on the global hit “Taki Taki,” which became one of the fastest videos to reach over 100M views. Her previous five singles “It Ain’t Me” with Kygo, “Bad Liar,” “Fetish,” “Wolves” featuring Marshmello, and “Back to You” all have been certified RIAA platinum or multiplatinum.
Over the last two years, Gomez has been featured in several movies. In 2019 she played the role of Shannon in Woody Allen’s “A Rainy Day in New York” alongside Elle Fanning, and Timothée Chalamet. She also made an appearance as Zoe in Jim Jarmusch’s “The Dead Don’t Die” with Bill Murray, Adam Driver, Tom Waits, and Chloë Sevigny. One of Selena’s ongoing roles is the voice of Mavis in the “Hotel Transylvania” franchise, and in 2018, her movie “Hotel Transylvania 3: Summer Vacation” made over $167.5M domestically and over $528.5M worldwide. In 2020 you can hear Gomez as Betsy in the Stephen Gaghan movie “Dolittle” with Tom Holland, Robert Downey Jr., Michael Sheen, Rami Malek , Antonio Banderas, Emma Thompson, Ralph Fiennes, Marion Cotillard, John Cena, Kumail Nanjiani, and Octavia Spencer.
