Another Marvel Television series is coming to an end, and this time it’s “Cloak & Dagger.” Multiple outlets have now reported that Freeform has canceled the YA Marvel series, and that the show won’t be coming back for a third season The cancellation comes just before the show’s crossover episode with Hulu’s “The Runaways,” which is coming back for a third season in December. Olivia Holt and Aubrey Joseph even appeared in the teaser trailer for “The Runaways: Season 3,” but it seems their adventures together are coming to a close.

“We are so proud of ‘Marvel’s Cloak & Dagger’ and the trailblazing stories this series told,” Freeform said in a statement to the press. “We are also grateful to our incredible talent Oliva Holt and Aubrey Joseph for bringing these beloved characters to life, and showrunner Joe Pokaski for his vision. We’d like to thank our partners at Marvel Television for a wonderful two seasons and are we are hopeful that we can find another project together.”

Hulu seems to be the new home of Marvel projects, and there are several series on the way to the platform. Disney has five animated shows coming to the streaming service, and the live-action “Helstrom” series. With “The Runaways,” that’s seven Marvel projects for fans to stream. ABC also canceled “Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.,” which axes Marvel on that network as well. The animated shows currently planned are “Marvel’s M.O.D.O.K,” “Marvel’s Hit-Monkey,” “Marvel’s Tigra & Dazzler Show,” and “Marvel’s Howard The Duck,” which will culminate in a special event, “Marvel’s The Offenders.”

While Hulu is launching an animated-hub, Disney+ is gearing up for “The Falcon and the Winter Soldier,” “WandaVision,” “Loki,” “What If…,” “Hawkeye,” “Ms. Marvel,” “Moon Knight,” and “She-Hulk”. All of the projects, including the Hulu series, were under Jeph Loeb, the former head of Marvel Television. Kevin Feige is now in charge of content creation of all of Marvel, and he might alter the course down the line, adding or moving the shows to better fit Feige’s plans for Marvel and beyond. Deadline was the first outlet to report the news about “Cloak & Dagger.”
