The highly anticipated return of Showtime’s “The L Word,” is only a few weeks away, and the network released an official trailer to get fans ready for the new premiere. The new series is called “The L Word: Generation Q,” and it’s set to debut on Showtime on December 8th.

The new series is a sequel to the original groundbreaking drama series. The first “L Word” ran on Showtime from 2004-2009, and the new story continues to follow the intermingled lives of Bette Porter (Jennifer Beals), Alice Pieszecki (Leisha Hailey), and Shane McCutcheon (Katherine Moennig). The new series is also bringing along some new faces, including the new characters Dani Nùñez (Arienne Mandi), Micah Lee (Leo Sheng), Finley (Jacqueline Toboni), Sophie Suarez (Rosanny Zayas) and Gigi (Sepideh Moafi). The show follows the crew as they experience love, heartbreak, sex, setbacks, and success in L.A.

“The L Word: Generation Q” is currently in production on eight episodes in Los Angeles. Showtime also confirmed a few of the guest stars that will appear in the first season. Those names are Brian Michael, Stephanie Allyne, Olivia Thirlby, Fortune Feimster, and Latarsha Rose. The series is executive produced by showrunner Marja-Lewis Ryan (The Four-Faced Liar, 6 Balloons), with series creator Ilene Chaiken, Kristen Campo, Allyce Ozarski, Steph Green (pilot), and original series stars Jennifer Beals, Katherine Moennig and Leisha Hailey.

Fans will have to wait until December 6th to start the first season, but we will probably get another trailer or two before the big premiere. Until then, you can watch the official trailer below, and set a reminder to catch the new season this winter. “The L Word: Generation Q” joins a long list of hits on the network, including “The Affair,” “Billions,” “Black Monday,” “The Chi,” “Homeland,” “Kidding,” “On Becoming a God in Central Florida,” “Ray Donovan,” and “Shameless.”
