Warner Bros. Pictures announced this week that principal photography has started on “Clouds,” which is being directed by Justin Baldoni. The movie is based on the popular YA novel Fly a Little Higher by Laura Sobiech, which you can find right here on Amazon.

The film stars Fin Argus as Zach Sobiech, and features Zach’s hit song “Clouds,” which became a YouTube viral sensation and hit #1 on iTunes. “Clouds” also stars Sabrina Carpenter as his best friend and bandmate, Sammy. The cast also includes Madison Iseman as Zach’s girlfriend, Amy; with Neve Campbell and Thomas Everett Scott as his parents, Laura and Rob.

Baldoni directs “Clouds” from a script by Kara Holden, with a previous draft by Casey La Scala and Patrick Kopka. The film is being produced by Mad Chance’s Andrew Lazar, along with Baldoni and La Scala. It is executive produced by Wendy S. Williams and Cate Adams, with Ben Simpson from Mad Chance co-producing.

The director’s behind-the-scenes team includes director of photography Ben Kutchins, production designer Michele Laliberte, and costume designer Rachel Sage Kunin. The music will be composed by Brian Tyler. According to the studio, filming is taking place in Montreal, Canada.

Fans of Sabrina Carpenter will also see her in the new Netflix dance-troupe comedy “Work It.” The cast includes Sabrina Carpenter, Liza Koshy, Keiynan Lonsdale, and Drew Ray Tanner. Also featured in the film are Michelle Buteau and Jordan Fisher. Alison Peck (Ugly Dolls) serves as the head writer on the movie, with Leslie Morgenstein, Elysa Koplovitz Duttont, and Alicia Keys serving as producers. Cast member Sabrina Carpenter serves as executive producer. The official logline from Netflix reads, “When Quinn Ackerman’s admission to the college of her dreams depends on her performance at a dance competition, she forms a ragtag group of dancers to take on the best squad in school…now she just needs to learn how to dance.”
