Earlier this month, we reported that Mark Steven Johnson is directing the new rom-com “Love, Guaranteed,” starring Rachael Leigh Cook and Damon Wayans Jr. This week, Netflix announced that Heather Graham is joining the cast, and she will be playing the CEO behind the start-up that promises true love. The movie is quickly rounding out the cast and gearing up for production, which is expected to start on October 21 in Vancouver, Canada
Rachael Leigh Cook is producing the movie, along with Dan Spilo, Margret Huddleston, and Stephanie Slack. Elizabeth Hackett and Hilary Galanoy, who both worked on Netflix’s “Falling Inn Love,” wrote the screenplay for the project, which is based on the source material by Rachael Leigh Cook.
Heather Graham is currently shooting “The Stand” for CBS All Access, which is based on the popular novel by Stephen King. Her past films include “Boogie Nights,” “Austin Powers,” and her directorial debut “Half Magic.”
The official logline for “Love, Guaranteed” reads, “To save her small law firm, earnest lawyer Susan takes a high-paying case from Nick, a charming new client who wants to sue a dating website that guarantees love. But as the case heats up, so do Susan and Nick’s feelings for each other.”
In the story, hard-working lawyer Susan (Rachael Leigh Cook) has taken one too many pro bono cases. To save her small law firm, Susan takes a high-paying, high-profile case from Nick (Damon Wayans Jr.), a new client who wants to sue a dating website that guarantees users will find love. But Susan and Nick soon find themselves in the middle of a media storm, and as the case heats up, so do their feelings for each other — which could jeopardize everything.
According to Netflix, Graham will play Tamara Taylor, the CEO of the LOVE GUARANTEED dating website. The company describes the character saying, “Tamara is a ruthless businesswoman who built a lifestyle brand from the ground up and will crush anyone or anything that gets in her way.”
