Multiple outlets have now reported that Zoe Kravitz is suiting up for Warner Bros. Pictures’ “The Batman” film to play Selina Kyle, aka Catwoman. Kravitz will star opposite Robert Pattinson, who is playing the roles of Bruce Wayne and Batman. Matt Reeves is directing the new DC project for the studio, and the film is scheduled to hit theaters on June 25, 2021.

Warner Bros. Pictures hasn’t officially announced the supporting cast at this time, but Jeffrey Wright is expected to play Commissioner Gordon, and Jonah Hill is in talks to play a villain. The studio will announce the cast when the film enters production this winter.

In the past, Michelle Pfeiffer, Halle Berry, and Anne Hathaway have played the role of Catwoman on the big screen. Cameron Bicondova played the character in FOX’s “Gotham” series, and Julie Newmar, Lee Meriwether, and Eartha Kitt played the role in different television installments.

Fans of Kravitz may remember her from Warner Bros. Pictures’ “Fantastic Beasts” franchise as Leta Lestrange, or from the studio’ mega-hit “Mad Max: Fury Road” as Toast the Knowing. Kravitz has also voiced several major roles across animated-comedies, like Mary Jane in “Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse,” and Catwoman in “The Lego Batman Movie.” Kravitz also starred in the series “Big Little Lies” on HBO, and appeared in “Divergent,” “Insurgent,” and “Allegiant” for Lionsgate.

Fans of the DC franchise will have to wait a few months to learn more about the cast, but more names are sure to leak as the film ramps up production. “The Batman” will have to follow “Joker” at the box office, which is still crushing the domestic charts for Warner Bros. Pictures. Todd Phillips directed that movie, which featured Joaquin Phoenix, Robert DeNiro, and Zazie Beetz. “Joker” topped the October opening record charts with a $90M debut, and has already made over $548.2M domestically.
