Netflix confirmed the cast of “Moxie,” a new film that tells the story of a girl from a small town who is inspired by her mother’s Riot Girl past and starts a feminist revolution at her high school. The new movie will star Hadley Robinson and Lauren Tsai.

Tamara Chestna is adapting the screenplay for the movie, which is based on the book Moxie by Jennifer Mathieu. If you like to read the original works before seeing the adaptation, you can find Mathieu’s work right here on Amazon.

Amy Poehler is producing and directing the movie, alongside Morgan Sackett and Kim Lessing. The production company Paper Kite also brought “Russian Doll” to Netflix, and the upcoming second season of “Making It on NBC,” which Poehler co-hosts.

According to Netflix, principal photography will start later this month, but the company did not confirm a premiere date. This is Poehler’s second feature with Netflix. Her first film, “Wine Country,” premiered on Netflix in May. Poehler directed and starred alongside Maya Rudolph, Rachel Dratch, Ana Gasteyer, Paula Pell, Emily Spivey, Tina Fey, Maya Erskine, Jason Schwartzman, and Cherry Jones in the project.
