Mark Steven Johnson is directing “Love, Guaranteed” for Netflix, a new movie starring Rachael Leigh Cook and Damon Wayans Jr. The new rom-com is starting production later this month, and should be ready to stream in 2020.
Elizabeth Hackett and Hilary Galanoy are writing the screenplay, which is based on the source material by Rachael Leigh Cook. The official logline reads, “To save her small law firm, earnest lawyer Susan takes a high-paying case from Nick, a charming new client who wants to sue a dating website that guarantees love. But as the case heats up, so do Susan and Nick’s feelings for each other.”
In the movie, Rachael Leigh Cook plays Susan, a hard-working lawyer. While she normally works on pro bono cases, she takes on a high-paying, high-profile case from Nick, played by Damon Wayans Jr, to save her small firm. She meets a charming new client who wants to sue a dating website that guarantees its users will find love, but the trial quickly turns into a media circus.
Netflix confirmed that principal photography on the movie will begin on October 21st in Vancouver, Canada. Dan Spilo, Margret Huddleston, Rachael Leigh Cook, and Stephanie Slack are producing the project.
This week Netflix also announced that “Dear White People” is coming back for a fourth and final season. The platform also launched “Big Mouth: Season 3” and announced a spinoff series called “Human Resources” at New York Comic-Con over the weekend. Sci-fi fans also learned the cast for the new “Shadow and Bones” series adaptation that is launching on Netflix, and we saw the first trailer for “6 Underground,” the action-movie from Ryan Reynolds and Michael Bay.
