The animated-comedy “The Angry Birds 2” now has a digital release date. Sony Pictures will release the sequel on digital on October 29th, followed by the 4K UHD, Blu-ray, and DVD version on November 12th.
The film features the voice talents of Jason Sudeikis, Josh Gad, Bill Hader, Danny McBride, and Peter Dinklage. The actors are reprising their roles from the 2016 movie “The Angry Birds Movie.” The new installment to the franchise adds Leslie Jones, Rachel Bloom, Awkwafina, Sterling K. Brown, and Eugenio Derbez to the cast.
The movie did well in theaters when it debuted back in August. “The Angry Birds Movie 2” had a $10.3M opening against Universal Pictures’ “Good Boys,” but went on to make over $123.7M worldwide.
In the film, a new threat emerges that puts both Bird and Pig Island in danger. Red, Chuck, Bomb, and Mighty Eagle recruit Chuck’s sister Silver, and team up with the pigs Leonard, Courtney, and Garry. The pigs and birds join forces to form an unsteady truce and become an unlikely super team.
Now that the back-to-school crowd has settled into their routine, the box office is starting to feature more kid-friendly options. This past weekend, Universal Pictures’ “Abominable” topped the domestic charts with a $20M opening weekend, and “The Addams Family” are currently scheduled to make their box office debut on October 11th. The following weekend is the big release of Disney’s “Maleficent: Mistress of Evil,” followed by the release of the animated-comedy “Arctic Dogs” on November 1st. That movie features the voice talents of Jeremy Renner, Alec Baldwin, Anjelica Huston, John Cleese, James Franco, and Omar Sy.
