Netflix’s “Kate” thriller has started production at Netflix and added several names to the cast list. Michiel Huisman, Tadanobu Asano, Jun Kunimura, Miyavi Lee Ishihara, and newcomer Miku Martineau have joined Mary Elizabeth Winstead and Woody Harrelson in the movie, which comes from executive producers David Leitch and Scott Morgan.

Cedric Nicolas-Troyan is directing the project for Netflix, working from a script by Umair Aleem. The official logline reads, “After she’s irreversibly poisoned, a ruthless criminal operative has less than 24 hours to exact revenge on her enemies and in the process forms an unexpected bond with the daughter of one of her past victims.”

Bryan Unkeless, Kelly McCormick, and Patrick Newall serve as producers on “Kate.”

Winstead is starring in “Birds of Prey (And The Fantabulous Emancipation of One Harley Quinn” as The Huntress for Warner Bros. Pictures. The film also features Margot Robbie as Harley Quinn, Ewan McGregor as Black Mask, Jurnee Smollett-Bell as Black Canary, Rosie Perez as Renee Montoya, Chris Messina as Victor Zsasz, and Ella Jay Basco as Cassandra Cain.

Fans of Woody Harrelson can see him in “Zombieland 2: Double Tap” next month, alongside Jesse Eisenberg and Emma Stone. The action-comedy also features Abigail Breslin, Rosario Dawson, Zoey Deutch, and Luke Wilson. The movie is scheduled to hit theaters on October 18th, opening against Disney’s “Maleficent: Mistress of Evil.”

Earlier this week, Netflix announced a new Will Smith project. Smith will play Nicky Barnes in a biopic called “The Council.” The logline for that film reads, “The Council is the never-before told story of a crime syndicate consisting of seven African-American men who ruled Harlem in the 1970s and early 80s. No ordinary crime syndicate – the men dreamed of a self-sufficient and self-policing African American city-state, funded by revolutionizing the drug game. The movie centers on the Shakespearean court intrigue between The Council’s king, Nicky Barnes, dubbed “Mr. Untouchable” by the New York Times, and all the different members as one unlikely rising protégé emerges.”

Will Smith and Mary Elizabeth Winstead star in the upcoming action-thriller “Gemini Man,” scheduled to hit theaters on October 11th.
