Disney dropped a second trailer for “Frozen 2” on Monday morning, teasing big sequel before it hits theaters in November. The studio released the trailer on social media, asking fans, “Why was Elsa born with magical powers? What truths about the past await Elsa as she ventures into the unknown to the enchanted forests and dark seas beyond Arendelle? The answers are calling her but also threatening her kingdom.”
Anna, Kristoff, Olaf, and Sven join Elsa on a new adventure, where she’ll need all of her magical powers to answer all of these questions. Chris Buck and Jennifer Lee directed “Frozen 2″ for the studio, and the film features the voice talents of Evan Rachel Wood, Kristen Bell, Sterling K. Brown, Jonathan Groff, Josh Gad, and Idina Menzel.
The first “Frozen” opened in theaters back in 2013. The original installment started with a limited debut, but quickly expanded to a nationwide audience on November 27th. The animated-comedy made $243K during its limited run, and grossed over $67M when it hit theaters across the country. “Frozen” didn’t debut at number-one at the domestic box office, and the film landed in second place behind “The Hunger Games: Catching Fire,” which made $74M in its follow-up weekend. Once Frozen-Fever caught on, the film dominated the box office and ended its theatrical run with $1.2B worldwide gross for Disney.
If you need to set a reminder, “Frozen 2” hits theaters on November 22, 2019. The movie is opening against “21 Bridges” with Chadwick Boseman, Sienna Miller, Stephan James, Keith David, Taylor Kitsch, and J.K. Simmons, and Mr. Rodgers biopic “A Beautiful Day in the Neighborhood” with Tom Hanks. The weekend prior to “Frozen 2” is the release of “All Rise,” the “Charlie’s Angels” reboot, “Ford v. Ferrari,” and “The Good Liar,” and the animated-comedy will have to battle “Knives Out” and “Queen & Slim” the following week.
