Hailee Steinfeld could be joining the Marvel Cinematic Universe. The young actor is reportedly in talks with Marvel Studios for the role of Kate Bishop in the Disney+ live-action series “Hawkeye.” Variety was the first to report on Steinfeld’s negotiations, and the series could introduce an older Kate Bishop as she prepares to join the superhero club. Jeremy Renner is reprising his role as Clint Barton/Hawkeye for the show, which is set to air in 2021. The expected story will follow Barton as he trains Bishop to be the next Hawkeye.
“Hawkeye” is just one of several Disney+ projects set to launch on the service over the next few years. The other shows include “The Falcon and the Winter Soldier” in 2020, and “WandaVision,” “Loki,” and the animated series “What If…” in 2021. At San Diego Comic-Con, Marvel Studios also confirmed series for “Ms. Marvel,” “Moon Knight” and “She-Hulk.”
Earlier this month Apple TV+ released a first look trailer for Hailee Steinfeld’s “Dickinson,” which is loosely based on the famed poet Emily Dickinson. Steinfeld is also expected to make an appearance in Netflix’s “Between Two Ferns: The Movie.”
In 2018, Hailee Steinfeld had a breakout year. She voiced Gwen Stacy in Sony Pictures’ “Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse,” and starred as Charlie in Paramount Pictures’ “Bumblebee.” Before those hits she starred in “Pitch Perfect 3,” and the YA hit “The Edge of Seventeen.”
Marvel Studios did not confirm Hailee Steinfeld’s casting at this time, so fans will have to wait a little longer to see if she takes up the bow for the new show. If you’re thinking about joining Disney+, the other shows and specials include “Into the Unknown: Making Frozen 2,” “Forky Asks a Question,” “Lamp Life,” “The World According to Jeff Goldblum,” “Magic of the Animal Kingdom,” “High School Musical: The Musical: The Series,” “Monsters at Work,” and “Diary of a Female President.” Other confirmed projects include “Noelle,” “Togo,” “Timmy Failure,” “Stargirl,” and a “Phineas and Ferb Movie.”
Disney also announced that Natalie Portman will Narrate a “Dolphin Reef” documentary, and that Peyton Elizabeth Lee is starring in “Secret Society of Second Born Royals.” Fans of Disney’s animated series can look forward to a new “Chip ‘n’ Dale” show, and a “Flora & Ulysses” movie Adaptation. Disney also confirmed the cast for the upcoming live-action “Lady and the Tramp” movie. Star Wars fans can see Ewan McGregor in a “Kenobi” spinoff for Disney+, and that film will join “The Mandalorian” and a new season of “Clone Wars.” Disney is also working on an untitled Cassian Andor series starring Diego Luna and Alan Tudyk for the Star Wars Universe.
