A24 released another trailer for “The Lighthouse” with Robert Pattinson and Willem Dafoe. This is the second trailer that the studio has released for the film, which was directed by Robert Eggers. Rodrigo Teixeira, Jay Van Hoy, Eggers, Lourenço Sant’ Anna, and Youree Henley produced the movie, which is scheduled to hit theaters on October 18th. “The Lighthouse” has been a hit at film festivals, and was chosen as the best movie at Cannes’ Critics Week.

You’ll have to check local listings to see if “The Lighthouse” is coming to a theater in your area on opening weekend. The movie is making its debut in New York and Los Angeles, but it could expand into more theaters throughout October. Robert and Max Eggers wrote the film, which stars Pattinson, Dafoe, and Valeriia Karaman. Horror fans might remember Eggers from “The Witch” in 2015. “The Lighthouse” is a hallucinatory tale of two lighthouse keepers on a remote and mysterious New England island in the 1890s. A24 released the trailer on social media, adding, “There is enchantment in the light.”

“The Lighthouse” won’t have an easy weekend at the box office. The big releases on October 18th are Disney’s “Maleficent: Mistress of Evil” and “Zombieland 2: Double Tap.” At the specialty box office, moviegoers can also choose “By The Grace of God,” “Greener Grass,” and Taika Waititi’s “JoJo Rabbit.”

Waititi’s film, which is currently making its rounds at film festivals, will most likely be the big competition for “The Lighthouse” on opening weekend. Waititi wrote and directed that project, which features Waititi, Sam Rockwell, Scarlett Johansson, Rebel Wilson, and Stephen Merchant. Waititi plays the role of Adolph Hitler in the movie, and the story follows a boy in Hitler’s army who learns that his mother is hiding a Jewish girl in their home. The movie is based on the novel by Christine Leunens, and despite its subject matter, it is actually a comedy.

The other big releases in October are “Joker,” which won the Golden Lion at the Venice Film Festival, “The Current War,” “The Addams Family,” “Gemini Man,” “Black and Blue,” “Countdown,” and “The Last Full Measure.”
