Netflix confirmed the cast of “The White Tiger,” and adaptation of Arvind Adiga’s award-winning novel by the same name. The movie stars Adarsh Gourav, award-winning actor Rajkummar Rao, and Priyanka Chopra Jonas. According to Netflix, the movie is scheduled to start filming in India this fall, with Netflix producing the film with Mukul Deora. Ramin Bahrani, who is also writing the screenplay for the film, will also direct. Chopra Jonas will serve as executive producer on the project.
Aravind Adiga’s novel follows the journey of a self-made man from tea-shop worker in a village to a successful entrepreneur in a big city.
Chopra Jonas spoke about joining the adaptation in the announcement adding, “I’m so excited to work with Ramin Bahrani and Netflix to bring Aravind Adiga’s poignant story to cinematic life. When I read the book, I was fascinated with the perspective of the narrative. The story’s portrayal of raw ambition and the extent one will go to achieve one’s goals is riveting. I look forward to filming this in India this fall, and also working along with Rajkummar Rao for the first time and the wonderful cast Ramin is putting together.”
Rao said, “It’s an exciting time for actors today and I’m thrilled to be a part of such a world-class project. I’ve been an admirer of Ramin’s work and am excited to see The White Tiger come to life with Netflix!”
In August, we reported that Chopra Jonas joined the Robert Rodriguez film “We Can Be Heroes,” also for Netflix. That movie stars Christian Slater, YaYa Gosselin, Akira Akbar, Andrew Diaz, Andy Walken, Boyd Holbrook, Hala Finley, Isaiah Russell-Bailey, Lotus Blossom, and Lyon Daniels. The movie also features Nathan Blair, Sung Kang, Vivien Lyra Blair, Adriana Barraza, and Christopher McDonald, with Pedro Pascal, and Priyanka Chopra-Jonas. Robert Rodriguez is serving as producer on the project, and writing and directing the film.
