Netflix’s animated special “The Last Kids on Earth” dropped a first-look trailer on Monday morning. The series is based Max Brallier’s best-selling book series, and is scheduled to premiere on Netflix on September 17th. The special is releasing alongside Brallier’s latest book in the franchise, so fans get twice the content on release day.
If you’re new to the stories, “The Last Kids on Earth” follows 13-year-old Jack Sullivan (voiced by Nick Wolfhard) and his band of middle schoolers who live in a decked-out treehouse, play video games, and battle zombies in the aftermath of the monster apocalypse. The special also features the voices of Mark Hamill, Rosario Dawson, and Catherine O’Hara.
You can find the original book in the long-running series right here on Amazon.
Earlier this month Netflix premiered “The Dark Crystal: Age of Resistance.” That series is a prequel to the 1982 movie and features the voice talents of Taron Egerton, Anya Taylor-Joy, and Nathalie Emmanuel. The cast also includes Caitriona Balfe, Helena Bonham Carter, Harris Dickinson, Natalie Dormer, Eddie Izzard, Theo James, Toby Jones, Shazad Latif, Gugu Mbatha-Raw, Mark Strong, and Alicia Vikander. Other voices are Harvey Fierstein, Mark Hamill, Ralph Ineson, Jason Isaacs, Keegan-Michael Key, Ólafura Darri Ólafsson, Simon Pegg, and Andy Samberg.
Once we get into October, Netflix subscribers can look for “El Camino: A Breaking Bad Movie” on October 11th, Meryl Streep’s “The Laundromat” movie on October 18th, and “The Kominsky Method: Season 2” on October 25th. The other shows to look for this fall are “Disenchantment: Part 2” and the YA comedy “Tall Girl.” Netflix also started working on “Blonde” with Ana de Armas, and we should get more details on that movie in the coming weeks. You can also catch Cardi B’s “Rhythm + Flow” series.
