The iconic series “The L Word” is coming back to Showtime this winter, and the network has a first-look teaser to get fans excited for the new episodes. The new series is called “The L Word: Generation Q,” and the show is scheduled to premiere on December 8th on Showtime.
The new series is being called a sequel to the original drama, and it’s not a spinoff. “The L Word” aired on Showtime from 2004 through 2009, and the new series will once again follow the intermingled lives of Bette Porter (Jennifer Beals), Alice Pieszecki (Leisha Hailey) and Shane McCutcheon (Katherine Moennig). Joining the cast in the new series are Dani Nùñez (Arienne Mandi), Micah Lee (Leo Sheng), Finley (Jacqueline Toboni), Sophie Suarez (Rosanny Zayas) and Gigi (Sepideh Moafi).
The show is still currently in production, and Showtime ordered eight episodes for the first season. The network also confirmed a few of the guest stars coming to Season 1, and they are Brian Michael, Stephanie Allyne, Olivia Thirlby, Fortune Feimster, and Latarsha Rose. Showtime explained that the show will follow the characters “as they experience love, heartbreak, sex, setbacks and success in L.A,” and you can watch the first-look trailer below.
The series is executive produced by showrunner Marja-Lewis Ryan (The Four-Faced Liar, 6 Balloons), with series creator Ilene Chaiken, Kristen Campo, Steph Green (pilot), and original series stars Jennifer Beals, Katherine Moennig and Leisha Hailey.
“L Word: Generation Q” is scheduled to premiere on December 8th.
The show joins a long list of originals currently wrapping up their series, or getting ready to premiere. The popular options on the network include “The Affair,” “Billions,” “Black Monday,” “The Chi,” “Homeland,” “Kidding,” “On Becoming a God in Central Florida,” “Ray Donovan,” and “Shameless.” So if you’re looking for something to stream, you can start knocking those off your list.
