The 1984 hit “Ghostbusters” is celebrating its 35th Anniversary this year, and Fathom Events is hosting a two-day screening in theaters on October 6th and October 10th. The special event will feature an introduction that reunites members of the cast of the film, and it will include alternate takes from famous scenes. Roast some Stay Puffs and prepare to get slimed.

Tickets to the “Ghostbusters” 35th-anniversary screenings are available at and participating theater box offices. Check your local listings, or the company’s website, to see if the event is coming to your local theater. The screening is headed to more than 600 movie theaters nationwide, so you have a pretty good shot at finding a participating location.

The original “Ghostbusters” movie was nominated for Best Effects and Visual Effects and Best Music, Original Song. Bill Murray, Dan Aykroyd, Harold Ramis, and Ernie Hudson starred in the movie, playing paranormal investigators who start a business together to raise money for their research after their funding dries up. Dan Aykroyd and Harold Ramis wrote the movie, and Ivan Reitman directed. “Ghostbusters” also stars Sigourney Weaver, Rick Moranis, Annie Potts, and William Atherton.

The original hit opened in June 1984, and the title song topped the Billboard Top 100 chart and remained a national bestseller for more than 20 weeks. That year the Ghostbusters were the iconic Halloween costume of the era, recreated in a recent season of “Stranger Things.”

“‘Ghostbusters’ is a comedy legend and a movie legend, a movie whose immediate success has been followed by decades of fervent fan appreciation,” said Fathom Events Vice President of Studio Relations Tom Lucas. “There’s never been a comedy quite like it, and maybe never will be again, and Fathom Events is delighted to bring ‘Ghostbusters’ back to the big screen for longtime fans to enjoy again and new audiences to discover for the first time.”
