FOX’s mega-hit “The Masked Singer” is returning with a special preview episode called “The Masked Singer: Super Sneak Peek” on September 15th. Nick Cannon and panelists Ken Jeong, Jenny McCarthy, Nicole Scherzinger, and Robin Thicke will reflect on the show’s first season, and Season 1 winner T-Pain returns to the stage for a special appearance. The episode also gives viewers a chance to guess who’s under the mask a little early, since the sneak peek is happening ten days before the show’s big Season 2 premiere.
According to the network, the preview will also be simulcast on the official @MaskedSingerFOX Twitter account, where fans can watch and tweet along with T-Pain and the cast. In the episode, viewers will be formally introduced to the new Season Two characters, and everyone will get a look at the new outfits. Collectively, all of the Season Two undercover celebrities have amassed 69 Emmy Award nominations, 42 Grammy Award nominations, 22 Broadway shows, three New York Times Best Sellers and two have been named TIME magazine’s Most Influential People.
The official start of Season 2 of “The Masked Singer” debuts with a two-hour premiere on September 25th on FOX.
It’s understandable that FOX wants another week at the top of the charts, and made the preview episode to tease fans for the upcoming season. The show was last season’s top broadcast show among Adults 18-49 (tied with “This Is Us” and “The Big Bang Theory”), Adults 18-34 (tied with “This Is Us”), Men 18-34, and Teens. That’s a wide demo to hold with just one show, so FOX is taking full advantage of the hype leading into Season 2.
The show’s first season averaged 15.8M P2+ multi-platform viewers, and it’ss the highest-rated reality show in four years, since “The Voice” in 2014. Last season’s premiere was the top unscripted debut on any network in more than seven years, and to-date, its launch has a Total Multi-Platform audience of 20.1M viewers, making it FOX’s most-watched unscripted debut in 11 years.
