Warner Bros. Pictures released the final trailer for Joaquin Phoenix’s “Joker” movie on Wednesday morning. The movie is scheduled to debut in theaters on October 4th, and stars Oscar nominee Joaquin Phoenix in the title role, alongside Oscar winner Robert De Niro.
Oscar nominee Todd Philips directed the movie, he also produced and co-wrote the film. The story centers around the iconic arch-nemesis of Batman, though the Dark Knight isn’t expected to appear in the movie. This DC installment is an original, standalone story, and it looks dark and menacing.
The story follows Arthur Fleck (Phoenix), a man disregarded by society who becomes a psychopathic murderer. The film also stars Zazie Beetz (“Deadpool 2”), Bill Camp (“Red Sparrow,” “Molly’s Game”), Frances Conroy (“American Horror Story,” “Castle Rock”), Brett Cullen (“42,” “Narcos”), Glenn Fleshler (“Billions,” “Barry”), Douglas Hodge (“Red Sparrow,” “Penny Dreadful”), Marc Maron (“Maron,” “GLOW”), Josh Pais (“Motherless Brooklyn,” “Going in Style”), and Shea Whigham (“First Man,” “Kong: Skull Island”).
Phillips co-wrote the screenplay with writer Scott Silver (“The Fighter”), which is based on characters from DC. Fans of the DC character can watch the final trailer below, and set a reminder to get tickets for the film’s premiere.
Phillips and Bradley Cooper are producing the film, along with Emma Tillinger. Richard Baratta, Michael Uslan, Joseph Garner, and Bruce Berman are serving as executive producers on the movie. Lawrence Sher (“Godzilla: King of the Monsters,” “The Hangover” trilogy) is serving as director of photography on the project.
The week after “Joker” hits theaters, the animated-comedy “The Addams Family” and Will Smith’s “Gemini Man” releases nationwide. That’s the same weekend that Adam Devine’s comedy “Jexi” opens. The other big October releases are “Maleficent: Mistress of Evil,” and “Zombieland 2: Double Tap,” which are opening on the same weekend.
