Netflix dropped a trailer for “The Spy,” a new limited-series coming to Netflix on September 6th. Emmy-winner Gideon Raff (Prisoners of War, Homeland and Tyrant) wrote and directed the series, which is produced by Alain Goldman (La Vie en Rose). Netflix ordered 6 hour-long episodes for the limted-series.
The show is inspired by the real-life story of former Mossad agent, Eli Cohen, who successfully goes undercover in Syria in the early 1960s. Cohen becomes close enough to ambitious military leaders and their rich friends to earn a level of trust about Syria’s biggest anti-Israel secret initiatives. The show stars Emmy-nominated Sacha Baron Cohen (Who is America?) as Eli Cohen, a man who wants nothing more than to be of service to his country, but he does his job so well that he finds it hard to strip off his double identity.
Noah Emmerich (The Americans) plays Dan Peleg, Eli’s Mossad handler who tries to ease his own guilt over the sacrifices Eli makes. Hadar Ratzon Rotem (Homeland) portrays Eli’s wife, Nadia, who is left to raise their family on her own and knows something isn’t right about her husband’s government job, and Waleed Zuaiter (Colony) plays Amin Al-Hafz, a military officer who thinks he’s found the perfect ally in the undercover Cohen.
Fans of the actor can watch the video below and set a reminder to watch the show when it debuts on Netflix on September 6th.
Sacha Baron Cohen is also featured in Aaron Sorkin’s “The Trial of the Chicago 7.” The drama also stars Seth Rogen, Eddie Redmayne, Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Alex Sharp, and Jonathan Majors. Aaron Sorkin directed the film and wrote the screenplay for the project.
Netflix also released a trailer for “Skylines” on YouTube. In that story, music-producer Jinn thinks his life is perfect when he signs with HipHop label Skyline Records. It doesn’t take long for Jinn to figure out that he’s over his head, and there’s a much darker side to the music business that he wants nothing to do with.
