An all-star cast is on display in the first trailer for “Motherless Brooklyn, coming to theaters in November. Written, directed, and produced by Edward Norton, the movie stars Bruce Willis, Gugu Mbatha-Raw, Bobby Cannavale, Cherry Jones, Michael Kenneth Williams, Leslie Mann, Ethan Suplee, Dallas Roberts, Josh Pais, Robert Ray Wisdom, Fisher Stevens, Alec Baldwin, and Willem Dafoe.

The story follows Lionel Essrog (Edward Norton), a lonely private detective living with Tourette Syndrome. Essrog works to solve the murder of his mentor and only friend, Frank Minna (Bruce Willis). Lionel begins to unravel the closely guarded secrets that hold the fate of New York in the balance. The studio describes the movie adding, “In a mystery that carries him from gin-soaked jazz clubs in Harlem to the hard-edged slums of Brooklyn and, finally, into the gilded halls of New York’s power brokers, Lionel contends with thugs, corruption and the most dangerous man in the city to honor his friend and save the woman who might be his own salvation.”

Behind the scenes, Norton collaborated with two-time Oscar-nominated director of photography Dick Pope, production designer Beth Mickle, Oscar-nominated editor Joe Klotz, and costume designer Amy Roth. Daniel Pemberton composed the score for the movie, which features Wynton Marsalis on the trumpet. The film also features an original song written and performed by Thom Yorke.

“Motherless Brooklyn” is scheduled to hit theaters on November 1, 2019. The movie is opening against the animated-comedy “Arctic Dogs” from Entertainment Studios, “Harriet” with Debra Martin Chase and Daniela Taplin Lundberg, and the actioner “Terminator: Dark Fate” with Linda Hamilton, Arnold Schwarzenegger, and Edward Furlong.
