Lionsgate released a trailer for “I Still Believe,” a movie based on real-life Christian music star Jeremy Camp. The movie features Melissa Roxburgh, Britt Robertson, K.J. Apa, Abigail Cowen, Gary Sinise, Shania Twain, and Katie Anne Moy, and the film hits theaters in March 2020. K.J. Apa fans probably know him best from his role as Archie in The CW’s “Riverdale” series. Apa is playing the role of Jeremy Camp in the movie, falling in love with Melissa Henning, played by Britt Robertson. Fans of the genre, or of Jeremy Camp, can watch the first trailer for the upcoming movie below.
The March 2020 box office is filling up fast, and “I Still Believe” is already opening against the untitled “A Quiet Place” sequel. The schedule might change over the next few months as the studios jostle for better positions, but going up against “A Quiet Place 2” might bury “I Still Believe” on opening weekend. The other big releases that month include Michael Rooker’s “Monster Problems,” Ben Affleck’s “The Way Back,” and PIXAR’s “Onward,” which are all releasing in theaters on the first weekend of the month. “Onward” features the voice talents of Chris Pratt, Tom Holland, Julia Louis-Dreyfus, and Octavia Spencer, and is the crowd favorite going into the weekend.
The following weeke is a monster mash-up, with “Godzilla vs. Kong” opening against Universal’s “The Invisible Man” with Oliver Jackson-Cohen expected to replace Johnny Depp in the Dark Universe series. The movie also features Elisabeth Moss and Storm Reid. Disney returns at the end of the month to release the live-action “Mulan” adaptation. Directed by Niki Caro, the movie features Liu Yifei, Donnie Yen, Jason Scott Lee, Gong Li, and Jet Li.
While faith-based movies are usually hit or miss at the box office, a movie chronicling the life of a Christian singer is a rare release. K.J. Apa and Britt Robertson might help to encourage fans to skip a horror-thriller sequel for the weekend, so it will be interesting to see which film lands at the top of the charts.
