Square Enix set a release date for the “Final Fantasy VIII” remake. Going by the name “Final Fantasy VIII Remastered,” the game is releasing on digital platforms on September 3rd, and players can choose between the Nintendo Switch, PS4, Xbox One, or the PC platform through Steam.
The game is being released during the original’s 20th anniversary. The remaster features newly rendered visuals, and the characters are all getting a few touch ups throughout the game. In the new release, players step into the shoes of SeeD recruit Squall Leonhart and resistance fighter Rinoa Heartilly as they work together to save the world from the military nation of Galbadia. There’s time travel, an evil Queen, betrayal, and a lot of battles.
The remastered version includes several optional boosts to enhance the original experience. The Battle Assist boost gives players the ability to always have maxed out HP and ATB, allowing them to trigger Limit Breaks at any time. There’s also a No Encounters mode, allowing players to enjoy the storyline uninterrupted. The developers stated that while enemy encounters are turned off, players can still enjoy the story event battles. The 3x Speed Boost is self explanitory, but the STEAM version will also include options like All Items, All Abilities, GF Max Level, Max Gil, Max Magic, All Limit Breaks, and All Cards.
The release date announcement came with a new trailer to watch. The video highlights the upgrades and new graphics that the developers worked on for the new release.
The company’s description of the video on YouTube reads, “The mega-hit RPG, FINAL FANTASY VIII returns as FINAL FANTASY VIII Remastered featuring new graphical enhancements and a whole host of options to customize your gameplay experience! Coming to PS4, Nintendo Switch, Xbox One, and Steam on September 3, 2019.”
