Fox Searchlight released a first look at the upcoming horror-thriller “Antlers” from director Scott Cooper. Henry Chaisson and Nick Antosca wrote the screenplay, and the movie is based on short story The Quiet Boy by Antosca. The story follows a small-town Oregon teacher (Keri Russell) and her brother (Jesse Plemons), the local sheriff. The duo discovers that a young student (Jeremy T. Thomas) is harboring a dangerous secret with frightening consequences.
Joining Keri Russell and Jesse Plemons in the film are Graham Greene, Scott Haze, Rory Cochrane, and Amy Madigan. Guillermo del Toro, David S. Goyer, and J. Miles Dale produced the movie, with Kevin Turen serving as executive producer.
Earlier this year Cooper talked about the film, saying, “I couldn’t be more excited to begin production on ANTLERS with Guillermo Del Toro, and reunite with my dear friends at Fox Searchlight.” Cooper continued, “They’re incredible filmmakers – not to mention necessary filmmakers – and are extremely passionate and supportive of my vision as I venture into yet another genre, and delve into the unnerving world of ancestral spirits.”
Joining Cooper on the film is director of photography Florian Hoffmeister, production designer Tim Grimes, editor Dylan Tichenor, costume designer Karin Nosella, creature effects supervisor Shane Mahan, and special effects make-up artists Lindala Schminken and Toby Lindala.
This weekend, horror-thriller fans can see “Ready or Not” with Samara Weaving, Adam Brody, and Mark O’Brien. The last horror-thriller in August is “Don’t Let Go,” then we have “IT: Chapter 2” releasing on September 6th.
“IT: Chapter 2” should be the horror-thriller to beat this year. The story picks up twenty-seven years after the original, as Evil once again returns to the small town of Derry. Andy Muschietti directed the movie, and he also directed the 2017 hit. The original movie adaptation brought in over $700M for the studio worldwide. Muschietti directed “IT Chapter Two” from a screenplay by Gary Dauberman, and the movie is based on the novel IT by Stephen King.
In the new story, the Losers Club are now adults who have long since gone their separate ways. Once people start to disappear again, Mike calls the others home. “IT Chapter Two” stars James McAvoy, Jessica Chastain, Bill Hader, Isaiah Mustafa, Jay Ryan, James Ransone and Andy Bean. Reprising their roles as the original members of the Losers Club are Jaeden Martell, Wyatt Oleff, Jack Dylan Grazer, Finn Wolfhard, Sophia Lillis, Chosen Jacobs and Jeremy Ray Taylor. Bill Skarsgård returns as Pennywise.
