Kate Purdy and Raphael Bob-Waksberg’s animated-drama “Undone” is releasing on Prime Video in just a few weeks. The animated series chronicles a young woman’s complex journey to unlock her past and solve the mystery of her father’s death. The studio described the series stating, “Alma Winograd-Diaz (Rosa Salazar) takes her mundane life one day at a time until a near-fatal accident induces visions of her late-father, Jacob (Bob Odenkirk).” Amazon continued, “Through these persistent visions he urges her to tap into a mysterious ability that allows her to travel through space and time with the hopes of preventing his untimely death. This quest challenges Alma’s relationships and brings into question her mental well-being with those closest to her.”
Created with rotoscope animation, a first for episodic television, the series has a unique look brought to life with an amazing cast. Hisko Hulsing directed the show, which utilizes a variety of mediums, including oil painting on canvas to render the backgrounds. “Undone” is set to premiere on September 13th, and you can add it to your watch-list right here on Amazon.
Amsterdam-based animation studio Submarine helped to create the show, which brought together a team of artists and painters from all over Europe. The series also stars Angelique Cabral, Constance Marie, Siddarth Dhananjay, and Daveed Diggs. John Corbett, Jeanne Tripplehorn, Nick Gonzalez, Sheila Vand, and Tyler Posey are among the guest stars in the show’s first season.
Purdy and Bob-Waksberg serve as executive producers along with Noel Bright, Steven A. Cohen, and Tommy Pallotta on the project. Dutch artist and filmmaker Hisko Hulsing served as the series director and production designer. Odenkirk serves as producer.
Prime Video also confirmed that “The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel” is returning for its third season in December, and released a trailer for the new episodes. Prime members can also set a reminder for “Carnival Row” with Cara Delevingne and Orlando Bloom. “Carnival Row” is a one-hour fantasy drama set in a Victorian fantasy world filled with mythological immigrant creatures. These magical creatures’ homelands were invaded by the empires of man, and the growing immigrant population struggles to coexist with humans. The magical immigrants are forbidden to live, love, or fly with freedom. Meanwhile, a human detective, Rycroft Philostrate (Bloom), and a refugee faerie named Vignette Stonemoss (Delevingne) rekindle a dangerous affair despite an increasingly intolerant society. Things pick up when we learn Vignette harbors a secret that endangers Philo’s world during his most important case yet: a string of gruesome murders threatening the uneasy peace of the Row.
