Ryan Murphy’s “The Politician” dropped a first look trailer on social media on Monday morning. The upcoming series is scheduled to premiere on Netflix on September 27th, and features an impressive cast. If you’re a fan of Murphy’s other hit dramas and thrillers on television, “The Politician” should be on your watch-list. Murphy’s previous projects include “NIP/TUK,” “American Crime Story,” “American Horror Story,” “Feud,” and “9-1-1.” His newest show, “The Politician,” is just one of many new projects expected to launch on Netflix over the next few years.

In the story, Payton Hobart (Ben Platt) is a wealthy student from Santa Barbara, California. Hobart has known since age seven that he’s going to be President of the United States. To get there, he’ll have to navigate the most treacherous political landscape of all: Saint Sebastian High School. To get elected as the Student Body President, secure a spot at Harvard, and stay on his singular path to success, Payton will have to outsmart his ruthless classmates without sacrificing his own morality and carefully crafted image.

Netflix teased the series in the announcement adding, “Full of dark comedy and sly satire, Ryan Murphy’s The Politician offers a rare glimpse into just what it takes to make a politician.”

The series regulars for the first season include Ben Platt, Gwyneth Paltrow, Jessica Lange, Zoey Deutch, Lucy Boynton, Bob Balaban, David Corenswet, Julia Schlaepfer, Laura Dreyfuss, Theo Germaine, Rahne Jones, and Benjamin Barrett.

Ryan Murphy is an Emmy, Golden Globe, and Peabody Award-winning producer, director, and writer. He signed with Netflix back in February 2018, picking up a five-year deal with the platform. Murphy’s “Ratched” and “The Politician” are already on the way to Netflix.
