Nina Dobrev’s “Sick Girl” wrapped principal photography on “Sick Girl” this week. The film marks the writing and directorial debut of filmmaker Jennifer Cram. Dobrev stars in the film and serves as an executive producer on the project. The extended cast includes Wendi McLendon-Covey, Brandon Mychal Smith, Sherry Cola, Stephanie Koenig, Hayley Magnus, Dan Bakkedahl, and Ray McKinnon.
The upcoming comedy follows a young woman who feels distant from her once close friends, and hatches a scheme to bring them closer together. The movie took part in the Oklahoma Film Enhancement Rebate Program administered by OF+MO. Principal photography on the project began in July with the City of Tulsa serving as the primary production hub throughout filming.
“Yet again, we’ve had a wonderful experience filming in Oklahoma. We felt supported all around from the local crew, community, film commissions and locations. The cast and crew specifically loved the diversity of nightlife and food in the Tulsa area. We look forward to further supporting the infrastructure and community the way it has supported us, film and the arts,” states Lunnen.
Sean McEwen, Cassidy Lunnen, John Papsidera, and Jessica Wilde are producing the film under their banner Whereabouts Unknown, with Dobrev and Takashi Cheng serving as Executive Producers.
“It’s been a pleasure working with the ‘Sick Girl’ producers. Cassidy Lunnen and her team have been exceptional, and we are grateful they chose Tulsa for their recent feature,” said Abby Kurin, Executive Director of the Tulsa FMAC, a division of Tulsa Regional Tourism. “From scouting with them to being on set, Tulsa was the perfect backdrop for their film. In addition to the locations, the production was able to utilize Tulsa’s lodging, crew and creative support services.”
“We first had the pleasure of working with most of these producers in 2017 on their previous feature film, and we’re thrilled to welcome them back with ‘Sick Girl’,” said OF+MO Director Tava Maloy Sofsky. “We’re grateful to the City of Tulsa for hosting this production and look forward to seeing the region as well as our skilled crew and local talent represented on-screen.”
