Sony Pictures’ “Little Women” dropped a first look trailer on Tuesday afternoon. The movie features an all-star cast including Laura Dern, Louis Garrel, Tracy Letts, James Norton, Bob Odenkirk, Florence Pugh, Saoirse Ronan, Eliza Scanlen, Timothée Chalamet, Chris Cooper, Meryl Streep, and Emma Watson. This is the first trailer that Sony Pictures released for the film, which hits theaters this winter.
Greta Gerwig (Lady Bird) wrote and directed the nmovie, which draws on both the classic novel and the writings of Louisa May Alcott. The studio described Gerwig’s adaptation saying, “the beloved story of the March sisters – four young women each determined to live life on her own terms — is both timeless and timely.”
Portraying Jo, Meg, Amy, and Beth March, the film stars Saoirse Ronan, Emma Watson, Florence Pugh, Eliza Scanlen, with Timothée Chalamet as their neighbor Laurie, Laura Dern as Marmee, and Meryl Streep as Aunt March. The studio teased the movie on social media adding, “This Christmas, own your story.” You can watch the first look trailer below.
Amy Pascal, Denise Di Novi, and Robin Swicord produced the movie; with Arnon Milchan, Adam Merims, Evelyn O’Neill, and Rachel O’Connor serving as executive producers.
The movie is releasing over the holiday weekend in December, opening against the animated-comedy “Spies in Disguise” which features the voice talents of Will Smith, Tom Holland, Ben Mendelsohn, Karen Gillan, and Rashida Jones. It should be a busy weekend at the box office, with “Cats,” “Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker,” and “Superintelligence” opening one-week earlier.
Gerwig’s “Lady Bird” was a terrific success for the writer and director. The movie featured Saoirse Ronan, Laurie Metcalf, Tracy Letts, Lucas Hedges, Timothée Chalamet, Odeya Rush, and Laura Marano. The film was a coming-of-age story following a seventeen-year-old girl from Sacramento, California.
