USA Network’s “Treadstone” released a first look trailer on Friday afternoon. A spinoff of the “Bourne” movie franchise, “Treadstone” is an action-thriller television series set amidst the CIA black ops program called Operation Treadstone. The series explores the origin story and present-day actions of the infamous covert program that uses behavior modification protocol to turn recruits into nearly superhuman assassins. The first season of “Treadstone” follows sleeper agents across the globe as they’re mysteriously “awakened” to resume their deadly missions.

The show stars Michelle Forbes as Ellen Becker, alongside Jeremy Irvine, Brian J. Smith, Omar Metwally, Tracy Ifeachor, Han Hyo-joo, Gabrielle Scharnitzky, and Emilia Schüle. Recurring stars include Patrick Fugit, Michael Gaston, Shruti Haasan, and Tess Haubrich.

The network released the video on social media, telling followers, “From the world of Jason Bourne, Treadstone hits USA Network this October.” The USA Network stopped short of announcing an exact premiere date, but fans can look for the series sometime before Halloween.

“Treadstone” is produced by UCP and developed by and executive produced by Tim Kring. Ben Smith and Jeffrey Weiner executive produce on behalf of Captivate (Bourne franchise), and Dan Friedkin and Bradley Thomas executive produce on behalf of Imperative Entertainment; and Justin Levy also executive produces.

The original film in the franchise, “The Bourne Identity,” released in 2002 and made $214M in theaters. “The Bourne Supremacy” was the second film in the story, releasing in 2004 the sequel made over $288.5M globally. The 2007 installment “The Bourne Ultimatum” made $442.8M worldwide, and was the most successful film in the franchise. Universal Pictures made “The Bourne Legacy” with Jeremy Renner in 2012, but the film topped out at $276M. Matt Damon returned to the franchise in 2016 for “Jason Bourne,” which made $415.4M globally.
