Turn off the lights and grab some snacks, Nickelodeon’s “Are You Afraid of the Dark?” is almost ready to premiere. The new anthology series is releasing this October, and the network shared a first-look teaser of the new show and cast.

According to Nickelodeon’s announcement earlier this summer, “Are You Afraid of the Dark?” is a limited series told through three hour-long episodes. The show introduces an all-new Midnight Society group of kids who tell a terrifying tale about the Carnival of Doom, only to have the events of the story come to life. Fans of the genre can watch the first look video below, thanks to a weekend upload from the network.

Nickelodeon stopped short of announcing a premiere date for the series, other than the original October announcement, and the trailer simply says “Coming Soon.” We expect the show to premiere a few weeks before Halloween, allowing the big finale to be part of the pre-holiday weekend.

The cast members of the Midnight Society are Sam Ashe Arnold, Miya Cech, Tamara Smart, Jeremy Taylor, and Lyliana Wray. The Carnival of Doom’s ringmaster, Mr. Tophat, is played by Rafael Casal.

Matt Kaplan and Spencer Berman serve as executive producers on the show, which is written by BenDavid Grabinski and directed by Dean Israelite, who also serve as executive producers.

The original “Are You Afraid of the Dark?” series ran from 1992 through 1996 and resurfaced in 1999 before ending in 2000. D.J. MacHale and Ned Kandel created the original series for Nickelodeon. Freeform will also be hosting a ton of Halloween content this year for the YA crowd, with multiple showings of “Hocus Pocus” like they did last year. Freeform has the “31 Days of Halloween” programming block, which has been a hit on social-media over the past few years.
