Thriller fans get one last “47 Meters Down: Uncaged” trailer before the big premiere later this month. The movie is scheduled to release nationwide in just a few weeks and stars Nia Long, John Corbett, Sophie Nélisse, Brec Bassinger, Sistine Rose Stallone, Corinne Foxx, and Brianne Tju. There are plenty of sharks and not a lot of oxygen in the new trailer, and fans of the genre can watch the new video below.
The movie follows a group of teens diving in a ruined underwater city, who quickly find themselves being chased within the submerged caves. As they swim deeper into the cave system for safety, they enter the territory of deadly sharks.
Johannes Roberts directed the first “47 Meters Down” in 2017. The movie featured Matthew Modine and Mandy Moore and opened in fifth-place on opening weekend behind “Cars 3,” “Wonder Woman,” “All Eyez on Me,” and “The Mummy.” The movie pulled in $11.2M on its opening weekend and went on to make over $44.3M for the studio.
“47 Meters Down: Uncaged” opens in theaters on August 16th against Jacob Tremblay’s adult-comedy “Good Boys” and Richard Linklater’s “Where’d You Go, Bernadette” with Cate Blanchett, Kristen Wiig, Judy Greer, Billy Crudup, and Laurence Fishburne. The other big thrillers scheduled to debut this month include “Them That Follow” with Olivia Colman, Walton Goggins, Jim Gaffigan, and Thomas Mann; and the adaptation of “Scary Stories to Tell in the Dark.” Later in the month, thriller fans can look for “Ready or Not,” a horror-thriller starring Adam Brody, Henry Czerny, and Andie MacDowell; and Jacob Aaron Estes’ “Don’t Let Go” starring David Oyelowo, Storm Reid, and Alfred Molina.
Then all bets are off when “IT: Chapter Two” opens nationwide at the start of September. The movie is expected to top the box office on opening weekend and Warner Bros. Pictures is hoping that it beats the original’s record-breaking opening gross of $123M.
