The upcoming thriller “The Hunt” is back with another trailer. The movie comes from Jason Blum, the producer of “Get Out” and “The Purge series,” and Damon Lindelof, co-creator of the TV series “The Leftovers” and “Lost.” The social-thriller follows twelve strangers who wake up in a clearing. They don’t know where they are, or how they got there, and they learn they have been chosen for the hunt. The movie features Betty Gilpin, Hilary Swank, Emma Roberts, Justin Hartley, Glenn Howerton, and Ike Barinholtz.
The studio teased the story on social media, telling followers, “In the shadow of a dark internet conspiracy theory, a bunch of elites gathers for the very first time at a remote Manor House to hunt humans for sport. But the elites’ master plan is about to be derailed because one of the hunted, Crystal, knows The Hunters’ game better than they do. She turns the tables on the killers, picking them off, one by one, as she makes her way toward the mysterious woman at the center of it all.”
Lindelof wrote “The Hunt” with Nick Cuse, a working partner on “The Leftovers.” Craig Zobel (Z for Zachariah, The Leftovers) directed the movie for the studio, and Blum produces for his Blumhouse Productions alongside Lindelof. The film is executive produced by Zobel, Cuse and Steven R. Molen.
If you’re a fan of the thriller genre, you can set a reminder to catch the movie on September 27th. The film will open against the animated-comedy “Abominable,” also from Universal Pictures.
The big September releases start with “IT: Chapter 2” at the beginning of the month. The following week is the premiere of “The Goldfinch” adaptation and “Hustlers” with Constance Wu, Jennifer Lopez, Julia Stiles, Keke Palmer, and Usher. The following week is the release of Brad Pitt’s “Ad Astra” sci-fi thriller and “Rambo: Last Blood” with Sylvester Stallone and Paz Vega.
