Rocko is returning to television, and he’s making his streaming debut on Netflix. A special event movie is launching on Netflix this summer, starring the one and only Rocko, and the platform released a first look trailer for the movie for fans new and old. The original “Rocko’s Modern Life” debuted in 1993, from creators Joe Murray and Mr. Lawrence, and the show shared time with hits like “CatDog,” “Hey Arnold,” “Recess,” “Aaahh!!! Real Monsters,” “Courage the Cowardly Dog” and others. The original series ran for three years and is still a longtime favorite in the 1990s cartoon genre.

The official description on the series reads, “After being in space for around 20 years, Rocko and his friends attempt to conform to an even more modern life in O-Town, where coffee shops are on every corner, food trucks offer multi-layered tacos, touch-screen O-Phones are being upgraded on a near-constant basis, an instant-print kiosk has replaced Rocko’s old job at Kind-of-a-Lot-O-Comics, and radioactive energy drinks turn their consumers into mutants.”

Netflix released the video on social media, adding, “After 20 years in space, Rocko returns to a technologically advanced O-Town and makes it his mission to get his favorite show back on the air. The 90’s have never looked better.” You can watch the official trailer below, thanks to an update from Netflix.

If you need to set a reminder, “Rocko’s Modern Life: Static Cling” launches on Netflix on August 9th. The summer TV schedule will be coming to a close at the end of August, and viewers will be eagerly awaiting the return of fall network favorites. Rocko is making sure you have new content to stream, and the blast from the past will keep you busy as you remember the era of grunge music and general rebelliousness against corporate America.
