Amazon set a premiere date for the new season of “The Expanse” over the weekend. The studio hosted a comic-con panel with Steven Strait, Wes Chatham, Shohreh Aghdashloo, Frankie Adams, Cas Anvar, Dominique Tipper, Naren Shankar, Ty Franck, and Daniel Abraham, and the new season is scheduled to premiere on December 13th.

Amazon also released the season 4 teaser trailer on social media, telling fans, “With the Ring Gates now open to thousands of new planets, a blood-soaked gold rush begins, igniting new conflicts between Earth, Mars, and the Belt.” The company added, “Meanwhile, on one unexplored planet, the Rocinante crew gets caught in a violent clash between an Earth mining corporation and desperate Belter settlers as deadly new threats from the protomolecule emerge.”

The official description reads, “The disappearance of rich-girl-turned-political-activist Julie Mao links the lives of Ceres detective Joe Miller (Thomas Jane), accidental ship captain James Holden (Steven Strait) and U.N. politician Chrisjen Avasarala (Shohreh Aghdashloo). Amidst political tension between Earth, Mars and the Belt, they unravel the single greatest conspiracy of all time.” The show is based on the popular sci-fi novels, and developed and scripted by the Academy Award nominated writing team of Mark Fergus and Hawk Ostby. The duo also serve as executive producers on season 4, along with Naren Shankar, Andrew Kosove, Broderick Johnson, Laura Lancaster, Sharon Hall, Sean Daniel, Jason Brown, Daniel Abraham, Ty Franck, and Dan Nowak. Shankar also serves as showrunner for the new season.
