Last week we learned that “Thor: Ragnarok” director Taika Waititi is returning to the franchise for Thor 4, and now we have a title, casting details, and a release window. Called “Thor: Love and Thunder,” the movie might sound like an Australian soap-opera, but it’s the latest installment to the Marvel Cinematic Universe featuring the iconic Thor character. The movie is scheduled to release in November 2021, and Marvel had several additional surprises in store for fans during the comic-con panel at Hall H on Saturday.

Natalie Portman, Thor’s love interest in the 2011 movie “Thor,” and missing link in “Thor 2,” is returning to play Jane Foster in the movie. Better yet, Portman’s character is taking on the role of Lady Thor in the story.

Chris Hemsworth appeared on stage during the panel in all his glory alongside Tessa Thompson to celebrate the franchise. Taika Waititi also made an appearance, confirming that he is writing and directing the new momvie for Marvel.

Waititi directed “Thor: Ragnarok” in 2017, which featured Chris Hemsworth, Mark Ruffalo, Cate Blanchett, Jeff Goldblum, Tessa Thompson, Anthony Hopkins, Tom Hiddleston, Idris Elba, and Benedict Cumberbatch. The film opened in November with great reviews and made over $122.6M on its opening weekend. The Marvel installment went on to make over $853.9M worldwide and currently sits with a 7.9 rating on IMDb. Kenneth Branagh directed the first “Thor” movie in 2011, and it starred Chris Hemsworth, Anthony Hopkins, and Natalie Portman, and made over $449M at the worldwide box-office. Alan Taylor directed “Thor: The Dark World” with Chris Hemsworth, Natalie Portman, and Tom Hiddleston and the movie made over $206M at the domestic box-office before ending its theatrical run with over $644M.
