Netflix hosted the “The Dark Crystal: Age of Resistance” panel in Hall H at comic-con on Friday afternoon. Taron Egerton and Mark Hamill joined executive producer Lisa Henson and executive producer/director Louis Leterrier on stage to discuss the series, and promote the upcoming premiere. Damian Holbrook moderated the panel for the event.

Mark Hamill told the crowd, “To be able to do the things you loved as a kid…I’m the luckiest guy in the world. I’m so grateful.” Hamill was joined by fellow voice actor Taron Egerton, who told fans, “The amount of craft that goes into the making of the puppets, the artistry that goes into those creatures, and then the guys who operate them. We arrive and it’s there. It’s inspiring in itself, the work that everyone else has done kind of feeds your performance.”

“Dark Crystal: Age of Resistance” is based on Jim Henson’s 1982 feature film called “The Dark Crystal.” The new series is a prequel to that story, following three Gelfling who discover the horrifying secret behind the Skeksis’ power, and set out on an epic journey to ignite the fires of rebellion and save their world.

Attendees got to screen the first episode at the event, but viewers at home can watch a ‘making of’ video that Netflix released after the panel.

Lisa Henson told the crowd, “This is the thing I am most proud of that we have done. Being in Hall H with this show is the greatest moment of my professional life.” Louis Leterrier also commented on the project, telling fans, “Every shot was the most complicated shot of my career. But the true heroes are the puppeteers.”

Fans of the genre can set a reminder to catch the first episode when “The Dark Crystal: Age of Resistance” premieres on August 30th.
