It was one of the first Marvel shows to hit ABC since the formation of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, but it’s coming to an end. “Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.” is coming to a close after the upcoming seventh season, giving fans a few more episodes to say goodbye to the team.
Marvel broke the news on social media, telling fans, “Next summer’s Season 7 will be the last for Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. Thanks to our fans for allowing us to be the longest-running Marvel TV series to-date.”
Fans are still watching season six on ABC. Next year will be the final season of the show, which will have several loose ends to tie up before signing off. The show itself was co-created by Joss Whedon, Jed Whedon, and Maurissa Tancharoen, who also serve as executive producers along with Jeffrey Bell, Jeph Loeb, and Jim Chory.
During the show’s big panel at comic-con on Thursday, the network released an extended trailer for the show’s sixth season.
Marvel fans still have Freeform’s “Marvel’s Cloak & Dagger” to watch, and the show is doing well on the network. Hulu also has the popular YA series the “Runaways.”
Disney is expanding Hulu’s Marvel content next year, now that the company owns the digital streaming platform. During Hulu’s 2019 Upfront Presentation the company announced “Marvel’s Ghost Rider” and “Marvel’s Helstrom,” and both of the series are slated to debut on Hulu in 202. “Marvel’s Ghost Rider” is executive produced by Ingrid Escajeda, who will serve as showrunner, as well as Paul Zbyszewski, and Jeph Loeb. “Marvel’s Helstrom” is executive produced by Paul Zbyszewski, who will serve as showrunner and Marvel’s Jeph Loeb.
Hulu also announced several adult animated series based on popular Marvel Television characters. Those series include “Marvel’s M.O.D.O.K,” “Marvel’s Hit-Monkey,” “Marvel’s Tigra & Dazzler Show” and “Marvel’s Howard The Duck,” which will culminate in a special event, “Marvel’s The Offenders.”
The two series are co-productions with Marvel Television and ABC Signature Studios.
