Warner Bros. Pictures debuted the final trailer for “IT: Chapter 2” during Comic-Con weekend. Andy Muschietti returned to the franchise to direct the sequel, which reunites the Losers Club for another haunting installment set in the quiet town of Derry, Maine.
The story picks up 27 years later, and evil has returned to the sleepy town. The film brings the characters back together as adults, though they have gone their separate way over the last three decades. Reprising their roles as the original members of the Losers Club are Jaeden Martell as Bill, Wyatt Oleff as Stanley, Sophia Lillis as Beverly, Finn Wolfhard as Richie, Jeremy Ray Taylor as Ben, Chosen Jacobs as Mike, and Jack Dylan Grazer as Eddie.
The original movie was an amazing success for the studio in 2017. After grossing over $700M globally, “IT” became the highest-grossing horror movie of all time, beating out the 1973 blockbuster “The Exorcist” which made $441M worldwide.
Not only did “IT” become the highest-grossing horror film, the movie crushed the highest-grossing opening weekend record for a September release. The movie made $123M domestically on its opening weekend, topping “Hotel Transylvania 2,” the previous September record holder, which made $48M in 2015.
The behind-the-scenes creative team for “IT Chapter 2” includes director of photography Checco Varese (“The 33”), Oscar-winning production designer Paul Denham Austerberry (“The Shape of Water”), editor Jason Ballantine (“IT,” “Mad Max: Fury Road”), and Oscar-nominated costume designer Luis Sequeira (“The Shape of Water,” “Mama”). The music is by Benjamin Wallfisch (“Shazam!,” “Blade Runner 2049,” “IT”).
Warner Bros. Pictures will release “IT: Chapter 2” on September 6h.
