FOX’ upcoming “The Kingsman” prequel released a teaser trailer on Monday morning. Called “The King’s Man,” the movie is currently scheduled to release on February 14, 2020. Matthew Vaughn is directing the movie for the studio, which is based on the comic book “The Secret Service” by Mark Millar and Dave Gibbons. The cast includes Ralph Fiennes, Gemma Arterton, Rhys Ifans, Matthew Goode, Tom Hollander, Harris Dickinson, and Daniel Brühl, with Djimon Hounsou, and Charles Dance.

The studio released the trailer on social media, telling fans, “As a collection of history’s worst tyrants and criminal masterminds gather to plot a war to wipe out millions, one man must race against time to stop them. Discover the origins of the very first independent intelligence agency in The King’s Man.”

Matthew Vaughn directed “Kingsman: The Secret Service” and “Kingsman: The Golden Circle.” The original “Kingsman: The Secret Service” released in 2015 and featured Sophie Cookson, Sofia Boutella, Colin Firth, Samuel L. Jackson, Michael Caine, and Taron Egerton. The action adventurer was an instant hit in theaters, opening behind “Fifty Shades of Grey” with a $36M weekend before grossing over $414M worldwide. FOX gave the franchise a sequel in 2017 and “Kingsman: The Golden Circle” opened at number-one with a $39M debut before going on to make over $410M globally. The second installment brought back Taron Egerton, Sophie Cookson, and Colin Firth, and introduced Pedro Pascal, Channing Tatum, Halle Berry, Julianne Moore, and Jeff Bridges to the story.

February 2020 is already shaping up to be a busy month at the box office. Warner Bros. Pictures’ “Birds of Prey (and the Fantabulous Emancipation of One Harley Quinn)” and Sony Pictures’ “Peter Rabbit 2” lead off the month, followed by FOX’s “The Call of the Wild” animated adaptation. At the end of the month, Sony Pictures and Blumhouse Productions plan to release a “Fantasy Island” adaptation, which is already filming.
