The summer thriller “47 Meters Down: Uncaged” released an official trailer. Entertainment Studios released the video on social media, giving fans another look at the shark-based sequel before it hits theaters in August.

The new movie is the follow-up to Johannes Roberts’ “47 Meters Down,” which released in 2017 and featured Mandy Moore, Claire Holt, and Matthew Modine. The original movie opened in fifth-place on the domestic charts in June, making $11M on opening weekend before grossing $44M for the studio.

“47: Meters Down” follows a new cast and gives viewers a new location. In the story, four friends go diving into submerged caves. It doesn’t take long before the girls realize that they are not alone, and they swim deeper into the cave system to escape the danger. As the girls try and navigate the dark caves, they swim right into the territory of a deadly shark species.

The new installment features John Corbett, Nia Long, Brec Bassinger, Corinne Foxx, Sophie Neliisse, Brianne Tju, and Sistine Rose Stallone.

The sequel is releasing in August instead of June, opening against the comedy “Good Boys” with Jacob Tremblay. That’s the same weekend that United Artists is releasing “Where’d You Go, Bernadette” with Cate Blanchett, Kristen Wiig, and Judy Greer.

Quite a few thrillers are opening in August, so there’s plenty to see if shark-thrillers aren’t your top pick. At the specialty box office, the drama thriller “Luce” with Naomi Watts, Octavia Spencer, and Tim Roth is opening against “Them That Follow” with Olivia Colman, Walton Goggins, Jim Gaffigan, and Thomas Mann at the beginning of the month. The following week Lionsgate is releasing “Scary Stories to Tell in the Dark,” and at the end of the month, FOX Searchlight is releasing the horror-thriller “Ready or Not” with Adam Brody, Andie MacDowell, and Henry Czerny.

“47 Meters Down: Uncaged” hits theaters nationwide on August 16th.
