Netflix announced “The Society: Season 2” on Tuesday morning with a quick update from the set. The new season doesn’t have a premiere date at this time, but new episodes are scheduled to hit Netflix in 2020. If you’re new to the show, you can stream the first season on Netflix, and the show is a modern take on Lord of the Flies.

According to Netflix’s announcement, Chris Keyser will return as showrunner in the second season and continue to executive produce alongside Marc Webb. Production on the new episodes is set to begin later this year.

In the first season, the show follows a group of teenagers who are mysteriously transported to a facsimile of their wealthy New England town without any trace of their parents. Their newfound freedom starts out fun but quickly becomes dangerous. Netflix teased the story adding, “As they struggle to figure out what has happened to them and how to get home, they must establish order and form alliances if they want to survive.”

The first season has ten one-hour episodes and features Rachel Keller (Cassandra), Kathryn Newton (Allie), Alex Fitzalan (Harry), Kristine Froseth (Kelly), Jacques Colimon (Will), Sean Berdy (Sam), Toby Wallace (Campbell), Gideon Adlon (Becca), Olivia DeJonge (Elle), Alex MacNicoll (Luke), Natasha Liu Bordizzo (Helena), Jose Julian (Gordie), Salena Qureshi (Bean), Jack Mulhern (Grizz), and Grace Victoria Cox (Lexie).

Netflix released the video below to tease the new season. The platform made the announcement on social media, telling followers, “More chaos is on the way.”

Fans will have to wait a little longer to get a premiere date for the new season, but everyone should be happy to hear that new episodes are in production. In a few weeks, we should get a teaser or trailer two from Netflix with some hints on the new storylines.
