FOX cut down the musical drama “Star” this year, but fans still have something to look forward to according to co-creator Lee Daniels. On an Instagram post, Daniels confirmed what fans already knew, that the series got the ax from the network, but raised their hopes when he announced a “movie of the week” event with stars of the show.

Daniels told followers in the video, “The good news is: we’re doing a movie of the week to wrap things up for you all,” he elaborated on the unique project adding, “We’re going to make something real special for you to scream about, with all of our cast members – even the dead ones.”

FOX canceled “Star” back in May, but the show still seems to have a strong fan base on social media which it had cultivated over the last three seasons. “Empire” is getting a new season this fall, but that series is closing up shop after the sixth season.

Fans can watch the Daniels’ Instagram video below; the co-creator captioned the post with the message, “Get ready for a two hour GAG!!!!!”

You can catch up on FOX’s Fall 2019-20 schedule, which includes “9-1-1,” “Prodigal Son,” “Empire,” “The Resident,” “The Masked Singer,” “Thursday Night Football,” “Almost Family,” and “WWE’s Smackdown Live.” FOX is also bringing back it’s popular animation-domination lineup, which includes “The Simpsons,” “Bob’s Burgers,” and “Family Guy,’ and adding the new animated comedy “Bless the Harts” with Kristen Wiig, Maya Rudolph, Jillian Bell, and Ike Barinholtz.

You can check the Fall Schedules or Premiere Dates for ABC, NBC, CW, and Freeform.

The surprise announcement is good news for fans of “Star,” but we will have to wait a few more weeks before we learn any new details on the special event.
