Nintendo is bringing the Layton series to the Nintendo Switch system for the first time. A new port, called “Layton’s Mystery Journey: Katrielle and the Millionaires’ Conspiracy” is releasing on the platform on November 8th. The title is launching as a deluxe edition, bringing a new mystery and challenging puzzles to Nintendo Switch owners this fall.

In this entry of the Layton series, the famous Professor Hershel Layton has gone missing, and it is up to his daughter Katrielle – a smart and spirited young lady with a knack for arriving at the truth in spite of paltry evidence – to take center stage as the protagonist. Katrielle is aided in her endeavors by a colorful cast of characters, including a young student named Ernest Greeves who acts as her assistant, and Sherl, a talking dog who begins as Katrielle’s first client, but quickly becomes her sidekick.

According to Nintendo’s announcement, the Deluxe Edition offers more than 40 brand-new puzzles, and some puzzles from the original Nintendo 3DS version of the game which “have been refined” according to the company. The game also features an improved screen layout, enhanced graphics, more than 50 new outfits, and all previously released DLC that was featured in the game.

With almost a dozen North American installments, the Professor Layton series is one of the more popular third-party franchises that works with Nintendo. Developed by Level 5, the original “Layton’s Mystery Journey: Katrielle and the Millionaires’ Conspiracy” launched on the Nintendo 3DS, and currently has a 72 rating on Metacritic, with a user score of 6.8. Fans of the franchise still have a few more months of waiting before the Nintendo Switch version releases, but it will be available in time for everyone’s holiday travel and winter getaways. The game will most likely pop-up on a few wish-lists this holiday season as well.
