Just a few days after teasing “The Haunting of Bly Manor,” Netflix announced a new deal with Mike Flanagan and Trevor Macy of Intrepid Pictures. The video streaming platform confirmed a multi-year television deal with Flanagan and Macy, one that will bring “Midnight Mass” to Netflix subscribers.

Netflix described “Midnight Mass” in the announcement saying, “An isolated island community experiences miraculous events – and frightening omens – after the arrival of a charismatic, mysterious young priest.”

In the new deal, Netflix ordered seven episodes of the new show but stopped short of announcing a release window at this time. Mike Flanagan (The Haunting of Hill House, Oculus) serves as creator and director on the project, with Trevor Macy (The Haunting of Hill House, Oculus) and Flanagan serving as executive producers.

The new series follows the success of “The Haunting of Hill House,” and it’s the upcoming second season called “The Haunting of Bly Manor.” Earlier this week Netflix confirmed that Victoria Pedretti, who starred in the original “Haunting of Hill House” at Netflix, will return for the anthology series’ second season. The original story that this new season is based on is called “The Turn of the Screw,” and Pedretti is playing the governess looking after two siblings. Things pick up in the story when spirits in the house start to haunt the children.

“The Haunting of Hill House,” the anthology series’ first season, has ten episodes to stream. The first season features Michiel Huisman, Carla Gugino, Henry Thomas, Elizabeth Reaser, Oliver Jackson-Cohen, Kate Siegel, Lulu Wilson, Mckenna Grace, Paxton Singleton, Julian Hilliard, Violet McGraw, and Timothy Hutton.

Fans will have to wait for casting information and release dates for “Midnight Mass,” but if you were a fan of “The Haunting of Hill House,” then you should be happy to know that another thriller is coming your way.
